The Spooky Halloween Tag

My favorite time of year is here again and it came too quickly this year. I can't believe it's Halloween already! One of my favorite bloggers, Mind. Body. Simplicity., just shared her Spooky Halloween Tag and I had to take part.

1. Favorite horror or Halloween song?

Thriller. I honestly can’t think of any other Halloween songs. This Michael Jackson hit from the eighties has an epic music video of dancing zombies. If you haven't watched it lately, go immediately: THRILLER MUSIC VIDEO.

2. Name something you wouldn’t want to run into in a dark forest or in an abandoned building.

A dark forest or abandoned building is enough to creep me out. I don’t need to run into anything.

3. Have you ever played with a Ouija Board?

Yes. Never do it.

4. Favorite horror monster or villain?

Vampires. I’ve always liked vampire movies and books like Interview with a Vampire, Twilight and Dracula.

5. The creepiest thing that’s ever happened while you were alone?

The White Oak Lodge but I wasn't alone. When I was twenty, I had just moved here to Montana and the forest was a new and enchanted place. I worked night audit at an old hotel across the river. Just the drive creeped me out. I had heard stories that the grand staircase was haunted but one night the night guard and I were sitting in the foyer trying to stay awake and the door to the Silver Dollar Lounge, right of the stairs, slammed shut.

6. If you were dared to spend the night in a “haunted house”, would you do it?

Yes. However, I doubt my ability to stick it out. I would maybe die of fright.

7. Are you superstitious?

No. I had a black cat when I was a kid. Also, my grandmother and daughter were born on Friday the 13th. If I were very superstitious, I might believe that I was a witch.

8. Do you ever see figures in your peripheral vision?

No. I often wonder about globes of light in pictures, though.

9. Which urban legend scares you the most?

I can’t really think of any urban legends. Probably Bloody Mary although I don’t even really know that story.

10. Do you prefer gore or thrillers?

Thrillers. I don’t mind gore. I just think that thrillers are more scary.

11. Do you believe in multiple dimensions or worlds?

Sure! I read a book by Sylvia Brown years ago about this. It was so interesting!

12. Ever made a potion of any sort?

Yes! When I was a kid, I used to have fun making “potions” in the bathroom. I would use anything I could find: soaps, lotions, fragrances, anything liquid in the bathroom. I never tried to drink it or anything. It was just fun mixing it up.

13. Do you get scared easily?

Yes. Sometimes there is nothing and just my thinking about scary stuff will make me scared.

14. Have you ever played Bloody Mary?

Yes.As a kid we played at every sleepover. It was fun.

30. If you could have a spooky Halloween pet (black cat, owl, bat, rat, wolf), what would you pick?

I would definitely have a black cat and an owl!

15. Do you believe in demons/the devil?

Yes.

16. You’re home alone but you hear footsteps in your house, what do you do?

The dogs make this pretty unlikely but if I did hear something the dogs weren’t reacting to I might take the dogs and hide in my room.

17. If you got trapped in one scary movie, which would you choose?

I feel like I already was in The Shining. When I worked at the White Oak Lodge we heard bumps and felt weird all the time. I had guests check out just hours after checking in because it was “just creepy”. They actually said, the hallways looked like The Shining.

18. If you could only wear one halloween costume for the rest of your life, what would you be?

Victorian Vampire.

19. Would you ever go to a graveyard at night?

Yes. I just watched Hocus Pocus and, if I recall correctly, that was the one place they were actually safe from the witches.

20. In a zombie apocalypse what is your weapon of choice?

Jeep. Funnily enough, my husband and I were just discussing this a few weeks ago. We are ready for the zombie apocalypse in our Jeep. We could load everything we need on it, it would go anywhere and we could just run zombies over.

21. Would you rather go to a Halloween party or go trick or treating?

Trick or treating. Something about running around in the street after dark. It’s fun.

22. You’re in a horror movie. Are you the final girl, the first to die, the comic relief, the skeptic, the smart one, or the killer?

Definitely the skeptic. So, probably like the third to die.

23. Do you have to watch something happy after watching a horror movie so you can go to sleep?

Nah, I’m good.

24. Whilst watching scary movies, are you the person who yells at the characters, the person with their eyes covered the whole time, or the person who falls asleep?

I’m always yelling at the TV, calling them stupid.

25. Are you the one who gets scared, or the one who does the scaring?

Definitely, the one to get scared.

26. Favorite scary book?

I can't think of any.

27. How old were you when you saw your first horror movie?

Twelve and it was Candyman.

28. What was your first Halloween costume?

Big Bird

29. What are you going to be for Halloween this year?

Vampire!
